My name is Madison Barnett and I am a Management Information Systems and Operations Management Major with a Minor in Computer Science at the University of Arizona Eller College of Management set to graduate in May 2022, from Munster, Indiana. I decided to come to the University of Arizona because II knew the Eller College of Management could push me to further develop my skillset to transition myself into a well-balanced business professional.  When I looked into the majors offered at Eller college of management I instantly became infatuated with Management Information Systems and Operations Management majors because of how they mix the use of technology with business

In my professional career, I have worked with for a fishing lure company from my hometown called RowdyBuzzLures since I was 17. I started by creating them a website, and now I maintain an atheistically pleasing website in order to improve sales and customer experiences. Along with preparing invoices and packaging shipments to aid the other departments.  I work directly with team members to cultivate the company’s goals. I have learned so many valuable skills throughout my time with them, including making business deals with one of the largest online fishing retail companies in the world. This job was such an incredible learning experience that I have been so thankful for.

Since being at the University of Arizona, I have been able to pursue many great opportunities. I was fortunate enough to be chosen by one of my previous MIS professors to be a preceptor for Flexlab, which is a lab where students in MIS courses can come and receive help on homework and projects. This opportunity let me meet other MIS majors who were older than me and receive advice and guidance. I was also able to get a new understanding of the material I had already learned by explaining it in a way that the 50+ students that would come in could understand. This job gave me satisfaction that I had not necessarily known. I was able to take a student who walked in confused and frustrated about an assignment and talk them through it so in the end; they had a better understanding of the project how to proceed, I remember being in their position and seeing them understand the material you taught them gives you a good feeling. To learn more about my experiences, check out my resume below!
